For the four gentlemen of The Dead South from the Canadian prairies, it was never particularly important to constantly reinvent themselves. They have placed themselves and their individual sound somewhere between folk and bluegrass and focus on following their own path. With the confidence of the individual band members – Nate, Scott, Danny and Colton – The Dead South stand on the threshold of global success with an ace up their sleeve: complete autonomy. It doesn't matter to them what you call their music or what genre you specifically assign it to. Whether progressive bluegrass, alternative Americana, country, folk or western: What counts is the authenticity with which they stand behind their releases. And people of all backgrounds, beliefs, experiences and ages love them for it.
The Dead South are fundamentally committed to bluegrass - and don't shy away from upsetting traditionalists from time to time with their tongue-in-cheek, modern interpretation of it. On their way to the top, they have also learned an important lesson: if you want to be successful as an outsider outside the mainstream, then you simply have to be great.
“Good Company” – as they call themselves – is a global community of very different people who may not always agree, but who stand shoulder to shoulder at gigs and rock out to the songs of The Dead South.
